Motorcycle Club or Gang?

A while back I read a story by a newspaper columnist from out west somewhere and he stated that a motorcycle “gang” had showed up in his town. He went on to say that although the members of the group called themselves a club, they were really a gang. Thus insinuating that all the members are law breakers that should be locked up. He said that he belonged to some social clubs and they didn’t ride around frightening the citizens of the community.

2009 H.O.G. Dates

The Haley Owners Group has announced that it’s 2009 National Rally will be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma June 26 -27 2009. The H.O.G. membership will meet at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City for rally activities. There will be 2 stages for musical performances, plus attendees will be able to take demo rides on the 2009 models plus watch motorcycle stunt and drill teams perform.

The 2009 American Muscle Tour will be held July 14 - 19th. The ride will wind from the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There is a 1000 participant capacity for this ride.

No that’s not the score of a game of a couple new basketball teams trying to horn in on the Harlem Globetrotters and Washington Generals act. That’s how old Harley-Davidson and its Harley Owners Group are. You know, the people that just got done celebrating their anniversaries this past weekend up in Milwaukee. Every five years they have a reunion up there for us who love to ride the bikes they’ve been building all these years.

Most of us weren’t born ready to ride. Somewhere along the line someone gave us a little inspiration and help to get us on a bike and start riding. They were our mentor. Now you have a chance to help someone else find out about the sport we love, to be their mentor.

Harley-Davidson has a tool to help riders willing to pass a long their knowledge and experiences to future riders but don’t know how. The “Share the Spark. A Guide to Mentoring” program has some materials to make it easy for potential mentors.
