It seems that York, Pennsylvania’s first term mayor, Kim Bracey, has decided to really get into the spirit of the town’s famed bike night. As everyone knows most Harley models have their final assembly at the York plant and tens of thousands of enthusiasts descend on the town every September for the annual York Bike Night. So Mayor Bracey enrolled herself in a Harley-Davidson motorcycle safety-training course so she could get her license and ride in the festivities.
But on day 2 of a 3 week course, Bracey, like many riders before her and many more after her, had an oops. The mayor states that it happened so fast that she doesn’t know what happened. She was wearing a helmet, gloves, long sleeves, jeans and boots. Even though she had the boots on the impact of the accident broke her right ankle in 2 places and the mayor had to have surgery.
Ever the trooper, a couple days later the mayor attended a civic function in downtown York sporting her crutches and a cast which drew the public’s attention to her accident. The mayor says she will be on crutches for a few weeks and since she says she’s a Harley-Davidson fan that she eventually plans on giving it another shot on getting that motorcycle license.
