If you’re not in the law enforcement field you may not know this but today is National Donut Day. That’s right, its Donut Day and many chains are giving away free donuts, certain restrictions may apply. So, if you can make it into a donut shop parking lot past all the cars with bubble gum machines on top you may get a sweet treat. BTW to all you men and women in blue we’re just kidding here. We honor and support all of you who go out every day to serve and protect the rest of us.
The history of Donut Day is that it started during the First World War when the Salvation Army sent volunteers over there where they made doughnuts for soldiers fighting on the front lines. Then in 1917 they declared the first Friday of June as National Doughnut Day to honor those volunteers’ who helped give the troops a taste of home.
