Not only will The Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground play host to the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, but in 2013 it will host the Black Hills Mud Run (by Danger Girl Endeavors). The Black Hills Mud Run will take place twice in 2013. Once on June 1 and again on September 14 which gives you a couple extra opportunities to enjoy the Buffalo Chip in the off season. Plus it’s a chance to get dirty and muddy, all while getting into shape!
Mud Runs vary from 5K to 20K (three to 12 miles) with various obstacles such as hay bales, wall climbs, crawls, tunnels, and of course, mud pits and mud crawls in the way of you and the finish line. Copious amounts of mud are expected, and a dirty good time is required. Mud Runs are gaining in popularity across the country and there is a mud run for every type of person, from beginners to veteran mud runners.
The complete course for the Black Hills Mud Run at the Buffalo Chip will be approximately 3.5 miles with both mud and dry obstacles, competitive and non competitive categories, though both will prove to be challenging. Participants may run in either a competitive or fun category and can run as an individual or as a team. Racers will battle multiple obstacles that require climbing, crawling, mud “swimming” and more.
The finish line and post-race party will offer music, food and beer for racers over 21. Team discounts are available. All racers are encouraged to register with friends and enter into a variety of contests, including best costume, best theme, and more.
A portion of the proceeds will go to a local charity. For more information or to sign up for the Black Hills Mud Run visit them online at: www.blackhillsmudrun.com
