Robert Nolan is hoping he can have his cake and eat it too. You see he owns Thoroughbred Harley-Davidson in Florence, Kentucky and plans to move it to a loacation where a car dealership used to be. This would enable him to increase the size of his shop. It would also allow him to share a parking lot with a planned Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant. Now if you don’t know about the Quaker Steak and Lubes they are a motorsports themed chain of restaurants that features chicken wings. The first “Lube” was/is in a former gas station in Sharon, Pennsylvania, with a car still on the lift rack.
The joint venture is the result of three years of planning, but before the project at 8025 Action Boulevard can proceed the Boone County Planning Commission and the city of Florence have to approve the signage request for the location. After the public hearing Nolan felt confident the project will get the go ahead. He feels that having the two franchises close together would create a destination for motorsports enthusiasts since both host multiple events. If approved the H-D dealership will move into its building after renovations are completed. The “Lube” will open later in a brand new building.
