Race organizers of the Macau Grand Prix have announced that Portuguese motorcycle rider Luis Filipe de Sousa Carreira has died after a crash during qualifying for the Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix. The 35-year-old rider crashed Thursday at a curve on the Guia circuit. Reports are that it was a single bike incident. Two doctors immediately went to aid the injured Carreira before he was taken to a hospital where he died about 20 minutes later. Organizers cancelled the rest of the qualifying session after the crash. Carreira raced for the Bennimoto Raider-Cetelem team.
