Everyone knows that this Friday is “Black Friday”, the best and worst shopping day of the year. It may have the best prices, but it also has the biggest crowds. And if you’re like most men, and some women, you dread being dragged along to the malls. Now if you lived in the Milwaukee area you’d have an alternative. You could go to the Harley-Davidson Museum. They are having several “Take Back Black Friday” events including:
The Black Friday Beer Fest will be making its debut Friday at the Harley-Davidson Museum‘s Garage. Guests (21 and over) will be able to sample the suds from at least 17 Wisconsin breweries. You can try out beers from Miller/Coors to Big Bay Brewing in Shorewood. The taps will be running from 5 to 8 PM. Tickets cost $30 each and are available at Motor Bar & Restaurant at the Harley-Davidson Museum, 400 W. Canal St., or online at www.harley-davidson.com .
There will be a Blazin’ Yuletide Ride at 4 PM. Santa will be leading the 2nd annual Blazin’ Yuletide Ride on his motorcycle! The ride begins and ends at the Museum. All motorcycle makes and models are welcome. Riders are invited to register their bikes online, where a portion of their registration fees will be donated to Arts@Large . The best decorated bike will also be awarded this year’s “Blazin’ Yule” trophy.
Those of you still in need of a present can Black Friday at the Shop in the Museum from 10 AM – 6:30 PM. You can get anything from leather jackets and posters to merchandise evoking the Museum exhibits, such as the Museum Collection Reproduction Sweaters. The Shop offers merchandise not available anywhere else.

A Special Exhibit: Industrial Innovation Gets Elementary from Nov. 23 – Jan. 4, 2013. Arts@Large and Milwaukee Public School students from grades 4 through 8 partnered with Harley designers and engineers to understand the craft and science behind industrial innovation. The results of this creative collaboration, an array of motorcycle gas tank designs, will be on display at the Museum.
Holiday Tree Lot, visitors can purchase a tree or wreath from Nov. 23 – Dec. 24th at the Museum’s onsite lot with a portion of the sale donated to Arts@Large.
Holiday Feasting & Festing at the Motor Bar & Restaurant on December 6th at 6 p.m. Motor’s Executive Chef Kirk will showcase new and delicious holiday meal ideas and easy-to-prepare holiday cocktails at Motor’s annual Holiday Cooking and Cocktails class. Cost is $25.95 per person. Call (414) 287-2778 to make reservations.
Build a Gingerbread House & Breakfast with Santa. On December 9th & 16th, from 10 AM – 2 PM children are invited to show their artistic taste and customize their own gingerbread house plus have breakfast with Santa at Motor Bar & Restaurant. The gingerbread house building is 10 AM – 2 PM and costs $15.95 per house. The price includes cost of gingerbread house supplies, but does not include cost of breakfast.
