A financial analyst believes that Harley’s October sales appear to have increased more than previously expected. A sampling of Harley dealers shows that for most of them retail sales were up 10% in October, from October 2011. Most analysts had expected the increase to only be in the 4-7% range.
Harley’s sales also rose 9% in September, but overall fell 5% in the third quarter. Analysts also expect sales figures for November to be down due to weather conditions in various areas of the country and the impact of the election. Meanwhile it seems inventories of motorcycles in dealerships have improved, with 50% of dealers seeing increases compared with 25% seeing a decline over last year.
