For all you riders out there who like to test their mettle here’s a rally for you. The “Guts and Glory Rally Across America” will be held from May 15 – 28, 2011. 1000 riders will start in Santa Monica, California and ride 9000 miles through all of the 48 contiguous states and finish in Bar Harbor, Maine. The riders will start with 11,000 points and follow a pre-determined and pre-timed route with 11 checkpoints along the route.
Each bike will have both an electronic timer and GPS tracking unit attached at registration. Points will be deducted for arriving at the checkpoints either too soon or too late from the scheduled times and for varying off the course. So that means the first person across the finish line might not be the winner.
The entry fee is $1000 but there will be cash prizes awarded for the most points for each leg and the Grand Prize to the overall winner will be $100,000 and a hand built custom motorcycle by Dave Perewitz. So there you are; 11 days, 48 states, 9000 miles for a cool 100 Gs. Are you ready to ride? For more info www.sunriseentertainment.com/gutsandglory/index.html .

Wow sounds like a rip off of the hoka hey. I followed the Hoka Hey and was told that this is being run by two people who were involved in HH2010 and stole the HH2011 idea. John White and the film comapny that was hired to film HH2010. This John White guy cannot be trusted by anyone and I would never have anything to do with him. Real capatalist scumbag. What a joke

Not a rip off of the Hoka Hey. A well thought out DIFFERENT TYPE of competition altogether. Perhaps consider the thought that these folks might have got burned by HHC in the past. Either way it now gives us riders TWO competitive long rides to do whereas last year there were none.

I rode HH2010, #65, and though have questions about the way the things were handled it was a great ride and experience. I agree with Doc, this gives a long distance rider a choice or the oppertunity to do both. I have contacted thier related military charities and verifyed that thier fully supported. To me, it doesn’t matter who is putting a rally together as long as they are legit and what they are offering can be verifyed. I like the time event idea and find it more of a challebge to use both mental and physical ability, not a balls to the wall type. So now we, riders, have a choice and thats great .

I just read some stuff on the G&G and I not sure It looks a little corny to me. Like a long poker run with a bunch of office workers. “nothing against office workers but you know.” Got a buddy at work who is riding in the new Hoka Hay. Gonna check that out tomorrow while i am on the clock. I have one shot at a long distance run this year and I dont want to ride with d-bags.

Yep I am riding the Hoka Hey. I want this summer to be the best summer of my life and i just got done reading the stories of the riders who participated last year in HHC 2010 on the Hoka Hey challenge website. Wow that sold me. My brother in law are signing up together. Guts and Glory, sorry guys looks a little lame. Shooting for second best if you ask me. Good Luck

Yeah I thought Guts and Glory looked a little lame as well. Its like a corporation planned it out to be “cool” to bikers. Hoka Hey is bad-ass. I know some guys who are riding in it this year and they are some serious riders. Most of the people i know Feel the same way about this, Guts and Glory, Whats with the song on the web-page and the Country “Stars” pitching for them. Its really quite embarrassing.

I heard they were going to cancel The Guts and Glory. Seems like they cant get much interest. Starting in May was a horrible idea those mountains passes will be frozen. Sounds like guys who dont ride long distance think they can make some money.

I am sure the guts and glory guys ripped off the Hoka Hey.I followed the Hoka Hey last year and most of these guys worked for them. Its the same route nearly. I looked on the Guts website and they took so much from them its amazing. It is alot more yuppiefied but it still erks me that they took so much. I am not riding in either because of a old injury but i will never support these thieves. And crazy horse make a garbage engine. Wanted to trow that out there as well.

I don’t understand the bashing of Guts and Glory even if you truly are a Hoka Hey fan. It’s another venue to ride or not ride depending on how you ride. And the remark about the country stars was ridiculous. If there are any “rock stars” out there to support the veterans charities, maybe they should step forward. Bikers aren’t supposed to like country? Tell that to Toby Keith. Get over yourselves. There are all kinds of bikers out there that appreciate all types of music, clothing, and different rides and rallys. That’s what freedom of America is about and helping our fellow man, especially those that have fought for our freedom

Bashing guts and glory is not hard. Its easy. If you followed the HHC last year it is obvious this is a knock off. And your right you do have the choice and that is a good thing. and my opinion is a good thing also. I support my friends and the rally they chose to ride in. Always happens someone does something new and then some company men come along and sanitize it so they can profit. Problem is it is never the same. And putting a cowboy hat on and speaking in WV draw does not make you a “country star”.So Turn up your Toby Keith drink a mocha frapp latte and join the sheep standing in line.

Well nothing ever changes does it? Everyone is there to do somebody wrong. Well I can personally say I know very well one of the peple involed in G&G and if you were to question his honesty you better be looking in the mirror. Ride for fun, ride for thrill, ride for charity, so what’s the big deal, just ride!
