Whatja Do Over The Weekend? Woman Assulted by Rubber Bat, Jumps Off Porch!

Another beautiful weekend wasted without a bike. Rumor has it that the parts are in the mail so sooner or later I’ll get to share a riding experience like you guys. Instead of riding I put up some railing on my back porch. After 35 years my insurance company decided that we needed to put railing up for safety reasons. If we didn’t comply they could cancel our homeowners insurance. In all those years we’ve only had one person accidentally fall or jump off that porch.

That was at Halloween one year when a neighbor was standing near the door had a rubber bat land on her head. When her kid opened the door the bat which was on a string tied to the door came down right on top of her head. She screamed and jumped straight off the porch. She wasn’t hurt but highly embarrassed. Every year around Halloween I remind her and she starts cussing me out, again.

Well that’s what I did, “WHATJA DO OVER THE WEEKEND?”

  1. well, I rode for two days…Went to Trade Days in Trade TN. (Tn’s oldest community) spent some time with my sis and her squeeze riding bikes…and eating good wood smoked meat…. Day 2, I went on a 250 mile (more or less, my speedo is broke) road trip with a guy I met on the road a couple of months ago. I gave him my card…and he emailed me last week asking if I wanted to ride around the Lake Cherokee area…sure buddy…I’ll ride anywhere as long as you are willing to ride and not complain about the miles on your butt….he did pretty good…only a whimper or two…I could see him squirming…his butt was tired…but who cares? He was riding a cruiser with a wind shield… I was comfy on my Sportster…I don’t start to feel sorry for anyone till MY butt hurts….

  2. Whatja Do Over The Weekend? Took my 16 year old out…first time he has driven on his own on the road (after training program). Check it out – http://faceyman.blogspot.com

  3. Sat PM saw us with our final planning meeting for the Knucklehead Reunion VI. It’s begining to look like the billing “Worlds Largest Gathering Of Knuckleheads ” will be justified. Sunday was spent on a tune up & lube on Dago Red in prep for the Reunion.
Sam, I’ll bet your insurance company would not be proud of the rubber bat………….those people seem to be missing lifes greatest gift : a sense of humor !

  4. My buddy and I grabbed our significant others and went for a putt to the beach. We took the long way. we went 50 miles to get 20 miles away through Topanga Canyon and Mulholland then Las Virgines into Malibu. Had lunch at the Malibu Inn then went for a walk on the pier. We started to head for Neptune’s Net but you could see the clouds rolling back on shore, so we headed for the warmth of the inland valleys. All in all the weather was perfect, the riding was great and the people were kool. Can’t wait for this weekend and more beach ridin

  5. we went to thunder in the valley rally in johnstown,pa . had a memorable time as always. the town of johnstown is so open to this yearly event and everyone is friendly and hospitable. the weather was cooperative for the most part and the beer was cold at every pub we visited. lots of games at the greenhouse park and scooters was jammed packed. it was a good time; reservations already made for next year.

  6. I attended the j&p OPEN

  7. I attended the J&P open house in Anamosa IA. 14,000 riders and friends showed up in the middle of corn country.

nice event, some great bikes- even bought some parts for the linkert carb on the knuckle I am working on for the Knuckle reunion at the H-D museum.

  8. The winter cage is an anode for chicagoland salt and needed the cradle keepers replaced. It was a nice morning for the work and it went well. “Went well” means that I didn’t hurt myself real bad while doing the job. It really is nice to know that I won’t be laying in a frozen driveway doing my usual desparate job in late December with the snow swirling around me.
That chore done, I rode off to the Chicago Norton Owners Club annual picnic. The “piCNOC” was held at Framecrafters in Union IL. Many thanx to Framecrafters for having the club at their place and for all the free info on motorcycle frames. Those dear readers of the IronWorks Blog not familiar with Framecrafters should do a search and get to know about their expertise.
After the picnoc, I went to a family&friends gathering and re-met people that I hadn’t seen in nie on forty years. Alas, I was invited to another family&friends gig that I just couldn’t make due to a homefront event.
The bike performed well as I blasted across the slab at about 25mph over the limit in my haste to get everywhere that I needed to be in a timely fashion. Surprising to me, my bike got 50mpg for that particular tank of fuel.
