Myrtle Beach West? Old Snohomish Show Canceled

snohomish13 must be their unlucky number because the organizers of the Old Snohomish Antique and Classic Motorcycle Show have announced that this years show scheduled for May 17th has been canceled. The cancellation comes after city officials in the Washington state town wanted to charge the organizers 6 times what they had paid previously for city police officers to work security during the event. Although the previous 12 shows had gone off uneventfully city officials are now worried about motorcycle gang violence.

Editors note: Maybe the movie “Wild Hogs” finally made it to the local movie house and it scared the city’s officials.

  1. Good Lord! I tell you what, this show brings in so much money for the town of Snohomish, this guy is an idiot. He started dropping names like Hells Angels and nomads, bandit’s, ect…completely got the council up in arms on this. Last years show was tense, because of the presence of swat on the rooftops, and all over town, we left early because you could feel it! The overwhelming police presence was the cause of the tension. I know these guys. They take care of business in private. We have NEVER had a problem at that show! My family has a business in town “Little shop of light” and we make a killing on those days. A lot of the business owners are up in arms about this. Bikers police themselves. 30, 0000 for a swat presence ruined this great show.

  2. What I cannot understand is why, with the economy being as bad as it is, are so many town running off bikers who bring in revenue each and every year. Obviously these shows cost the town some money in additional police, clean up and maintenance, but the benefits of such events has always outweighed the towns investment. I understand that some communities don’t want us in their towns, but when small businesses are struggling as bad as they are right now, you would think they would welcome the business.

  3. Just thinking about how much money is spent on food and drink alone makes me wonder. With the economy the way it is you would think they would welcome any event that draws a crowd.
