  1. Steve,
Curious, is the venturi extrude honed or is the intake manifold done with that process. With that gearing I’ll bet it is a real street light bandit!

  2. I lOVE it! I wish i owned it…

Hi John, I only had the money back then to have the venturi honed, some day i will have the intake done… I do believe it made a significant difference in response.

the conversion to the chain and gearing i did back in the day to bring my stroker RPM’s down when i road tripped and droned on the highway for hours on end, when this was my only bike… at 75mph I am only spinning 2900rpm – right in the middle of its super sweet spot.

  4. I like that black look!
I don’t know the details of the 89 inch motor – a very popular displacement size.
The FXR’s following, in my opinion, will only grow as more riders(who like to expand the performance envelope of the EVO) realize what a great value the FXR is as a used motorcycle with great handling qualities.

Great job of personalizing YOUR bike Steveb.

My 89″ is all stroke – a 4.5/8 stroke, stock bore – piston speed is modest if you ride it accordingly and don’t hammer it. Interestingly when i made the decision to go with a stroker, I got lots of advice that i shouldn’t do it because of longevity.

Well, that was like 16yrs ago, I haven’t really been in the motor since… so much for lore.

If you build it carefully (I did) and ride it respectfully (I do), there is not reason a stroker shouldn’t last a good long time (which mine has)

  6. Hey Steve, just wanted to ask you about a few things I see. Odd things, and just wondering.

On the left side, attached to the left fork, is…what your speedo? I see you designed the mount yourself. I’m just wondering, why you wanted to mount it here? Is there less stress and vibration or something?

What is the black cylinder hanging off the left side of the frame near the oil tank…is that where you moved the oil filter too? Why? (If that’s it…)

Impressive Koni Suspension. Dig how the look. Almost sport bike…too bad Koni don’t make MC shocks anymore.

Super E…yeah, I think once you get the intake done…(Long low Whistle)…. I would wanna be you….

I love my EVO…and there’s no doubt you love yours too…way too nice. I think these engines deserve a lot more fans than they have.

Yep – speedo is on the left fork leg, designed by me and fabbed by FabKev – i didnt want to clutter up my bars, got fed up of not knowing my speed as I’d blow past and officer (i ran with no gauges for years) so i did this. No vibes at all, works great. Barnett made up the short drive cable.

Yep – i relocated the oil filer to a frame mount…ripped one off on a curb hop in NYC and decided to get some more critical clearance..and it doesnt look bad.

the koni shocks are ancient, i really want to replace them either with Ohlins or Works Performance, the race tech springs in the front are getting kid of tired too….

i love this bike, if i could only have one – this would be it, i can turn it into anything i want/need – it is that flexible a platform
