HJC IS-MAX Helmet
I have to admit that I have been using half helmets for 35 plus years now. I figured if they were good enough for motorcycle cops then they were good enough for me. I still use them for normal everyday riding but once in awhile I like to have something else to wear. Like on those trips where I know I’ll get caught in the rain or cold. It’s those times I like to put on my new IS-MAX helmet from HJC.

I like the helmet because it has a flip-up chin bar in the front. Just pull the latch and the chin bar rotates up out of the way making it easier for me to pull the helmet on without taking off my glasses. Then when you put it back down you can open the shield to feel the wind. A new feature of all the IS models is the retractable sun visor, like aircraft pilot helmets have. The helmet comes equipped with a smoke colored one but I changed to the High Def amber. The helmet also comes with a Silver Cool lining that wicks away moisture making the helmet more comfortable.
Like I said I’m a half helmet guy but I was glad to have the IS-MAX on my trips in the cold and rain when I went to Vermont and Michigan.

Hey Sam -you wearing an aerostich lobster bib?
LOL
Yes I am. Between the Aerostich, my HJC skid lid and my Stone Lake Leathers leather shirt I’m covered.
Sam, how did you find the measurements ran? Well actually, I guess I’m asking…how well does the helmet fit you?
Some helmets are made for “rounded” heads…like mine, while others are better suited for the people whose heads are shaped like Stewie’s on the family guy…and then you have the heads with a Lerch kinda shape…
I’m scared to order on line because of the differences. How do you find your experience with this company? Did you get it through the mail without trying it on first? How’d that work?
Chessie,
The helmet fit fine straight out of the box. I got the XXL size because of my big head. With the jaw bar raised I don’t have to take my glasses off to put the helmet on.
