Ah yes, Cinco de Mayo, the 5th of May. The day most Americans mistakenly believe is the Mexican Independence Day, it’s not. It’s not even a Federal holiday down in old Mexico, but is widely celebrated in the State of Puebla as the date the Mexican Army won a battle against a vastly better trained and armed French Army (imagine that).
So even though most Mexicans don’t celebrate Cinco de Mayo, we gringos can still have our guacamole dip, burritos, tacos and wash them down with Coronas and margaritas. Me, being the ignorant American that I am, I’m going to watch a bull fight and then I’m taking a siesta.
I’ll be at Los Amigos this afternoon at 4:30 to get started on the drink specials!
