Concerns Raised About New Gas Standards
Here’s one for the books. A government agency on our side. The Department of Energy (DoE) is proposing that a lower standard, 3-5 % of ethanol blend of gas be approved for continued use in carbureted motorcycles. The negative effects of higher ethanol blends in engines was raised by the motorcycle industry. The Biofuels Act mandates that all gasoline pumps be supplying E-10, 10% ethanol blend fuels by the year 2011. Apparently not enough clunkers were turned in for cash because similar concerns were cited by lobbyists for groups representing older carbureted cars and trucks. Also opponents cite a possible lack of ethanol producing supplies before the 2011 deadline.
