The Buzz From New Orleans Bike Fest

The inaugural New Orleans Bike Fest was held over the weekend down in the “Big Easy”. All reports that I’ve heard are what you would expect from a first time event. There were some really good points and some things they need to improve on, but generally everyone had a good time. Of course what else do you expect in a town where bon temps roulette is the way of life?

One thing New Orleans Bike Fest goers didn’t expect was to have Sly Stallone blow into town on a mission. That mission was to procure a dozen custom motorcycles for his upcoming film The Expendables.  It’s an action flick about a bunch of guys who ride their custom bikes into a foreign country to overthrow it’s dictator. Starring in the movie will be Mickey Rourke, Jet Li, Josh Brolin, Forrest Whitaker, Sly of course and rumor has it that Arnold will appear too.

During his motorcycle shopping spree Stallone happened upon a bike built by Jeremy Smith of Scooter Lube and Accessories shop in Gretna, Louisiana. He liked it so much he bought it on it’s spot at the Cycle Source Ride-In Show. Our own Marilyn Stemp caught this image of Sly getting the lowdown about the bike from Jeremy. Look for more of Marilyn’s coverage of the inaugural New Orleans Bike Fest in an upcoming issue of IronWorks Magazine.
