2009 Motorcycle Ownership Satisfaction Up
In a recent study done by J.D. Powers and Associates responding motorcycle owners said they were more satisfied with the overall motorcycle ownership experience this year than in 2008. In fact the satisfaction rating reached an all time high even though motorcycle sales slipped by over 30%. Satisfaction increased in all 5 rated factors: product; quality; cost of ownership; sales and service. The latter 2 had the most increase which was attributed to dealers making follow-up calls to their customers.

With the lack of motorcycle sales the purchasing experience is one area that dealers needed to improve. In this economy the attitude of the salesman could very well be the deciding factor in a buyer’s decision where to purchase a motorcycle. The quality, for the most part is implied which is also a factor in the final cost of ownership. So, higher satisfaction is no surprise as all manufacturers and dealers fight for the sale.
