With a Little Help From My Friends

A Friend Indeed

I’ve been without a bike to ride for most of the summer due to the twenty year makeover that my bike is currently undergoing. My friends R.W. and Jodie always said that if I needed a bike to let them know and I could borrow theirs. Sure enough when I asked they said to go ahead and take it. It’d been sitting in storage awhile so it needed a little work. I figured I’d pay for whatever it needed because I knew they wouldn’t let me give them anything for using it. They were just happy to see me riding again, now that’s what I call friends

Helping Out

To get the bike trip worthy I took it to my friends at R & J Cycle in Ford City, PA for a new back tire and inspection sticker. Knowing my plight the guys there were eager to help me out too. They took me in ahead of a couple others they had been working on. I didn’t mind waiting for the bike they finished before mine. They were working on it so a young man could go for a ride with his Dad this weekend before the kid left for Iraq this week. Cudos to R & J for doing the work on that bike for free! It was their way of saying thanks to the kid. I’d like to add my thanks to that young serviceman and all others who are or have served our country!

  1. hey Sam

that looks like a softail to me.

good to hear that your back on two wheels while you wait for your rubber bagger to ‘rise’ from the high milage ashes.

  2. Great Sam… let’s keep restoring and fixing up these bikes… instead of letting them just gather dust!

  3. Not a bad looking second hand bike. It’s too bad it was sitting in storage long enough to need the work. I’m glad to hear you have polished her off and given her a good time. Do you have a picture of the bike now? You could do a before and after. Good idea?
