Vintage Motorbikes from Ridley
Ridley has gone back to the future with a new line of vintage styled motorized bicycles. They’re being introduced as part of Ridley’s 2009 model line and will be on view during Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach, October 16-18.
The bicycles are actually sold as kits that include a “motor ready” bicycle and your choice of 49cc or 70cc engine, clocking 24 MPH and 33 MPH respectively. There are four models, all selling for about $2000 each. The best part? 129 miles per gallon!
Remember these machines look like the originals that inspired the founders of the early motorcycle companies. Go to http://shop.ridleymotorcycle.com/shop/

If I paid $2000 for a bicycle, even a motorized bicycle, the old lady would kill me. Thats like my son asking me for one of those motorized skateboards. Not quite, but close.
I think they’re great. Nothing like bringing us all back to our roots. However, in my current physical state there isn’t much chance I’d purchase a moto-cycle. Not to mention two thousand dollars is hard to come by these days.
Hey guys just think of how much fun you’d have putting this together on Christmas Eve! You can knock $500 off by not getting the motor and just have a pedal bike. Now that’s really going back to the roots.
129 miles per gallon sure gets my attention.
These seem better construction than the Whizzers, which are still available. And the styling is better too.
I’d be interested in having one to knock around in. I could ride it up to Flips on the weekend and show it off at the monthly vintage/collectors show. Imagine the site, me scooting along at 33 mph down Taylor Road. Classic.
Snakebit,
Interesting. It would almost be worth a trip to Biketoberfest just to see them.
I agree with most though, a bit too pricey. Even without to motor.
Ride easy,
Sam
What type of motor will it come with–what brand. Secondly, do you know approximately the weight when assembled. I saw a bike on the movie the Leatherheads and feel in love with it. I am a tall thin framed lady and a normal bike is just to heavy for me to risk a fall. I have been interested in doing something in the bike field. Do you live in the south. You are welcome to email me at the above address. Also, are you going to paint one a girly color? Thanks. Lynn.
