Longbow X-Wedge Trike
I’ve been lucky the past week and a half to have been doing a test ride of a Longbow X-Wedge trike. This takes me back to my first ride on a real motorcycle. My first Harley was a an old police Servi-Car. It looked like the ice cream or meter maid wagons that used to prowl city streets. It had a big old box on the back and a tank mounted shifter with a foot clutch. The only similarity between the two machines is that they both had three wheels.
The Harley had a 45ci. motor where as the Longbow has a brand new 117ci. S&S X-Wedge motor. Mine had three speeds and reverse, the Longbow sports a Baker 6 speed and you can put an optional electric reverse on it. But moving it was no problem as the motorcycle rolls so easily that one person can push it. The Longbow has a stylish Porcshe/Corvette looking tail section with a lot of storage space, the Servi-Car had a, box.
One thing is that riding both of those three wheelers you have to forget how to ride a motorcycle. You steer instead of lean into corners. You don’t put your feet down when you stop or they might get rolled up on. And you can’t ride with your left mirror next to the centerline of the lane because the left rear wheel would be in the other lane of traffic.
I almost forgot to tell you the Longbow machines are built for above average people. If you’re tall and/or have long limbs you’ll feel comfortable on a Longbow because they are stretched out just like a limo. My 6’5″ cousin sat on it and loved it. Look for a longer ride evaluation in an upcoming issue of IronWorks magazine. For more information go to: www.longbowmotorcycles.com

Snakebit,
Sounds interesting but it’s not for me. I figure that when I can’t handle my ’98 RK, I’ll put a side car on er.
Ride easy,
Sam
I’m right there with you Sam. I’d add a sidecar any day before I’d look at a trike or servi-car. Not only for the economical reasons—the sidecar is utilitarian without compromising attitude. (my opinion)
Just another trend.
Looks a hell of a lot better than the Tri Glide Ultra Classic by Harley.
Mike, I was just thinking the same thing. Can we see more of the bike? Sam, do you have any more images?
RoadRat, here you go. a back shot and front angle shot. BTW I think you can fit a small keg and a few bags of chips in the trunk.
Thanks Sam. Too bad you have to give it back. Eh?
