IronWorks Ridge Run 2008

Well the 2008 IronWorks Ridge Run is history and from all indications everyone survived and no bail bondsmen had to be called so it was a success. Over fifty riders gathered at Cherokee County Cycles for the event. Frank Boorn was selected to be Road captain and led the group on a 170 mile excursion through the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina and northern Georgia. Frank was a good choice to lead since he’s logged over three quarters of a million miles on two wheels.

When the riding was done, Jenny and Mike Pike, the owners of Cherokee County Cycles held a little get together for the riders. They served up some music, food, door prizes and I heard mention of “fire eating”? Rumor has it that the festivities lasted into the wee hours. Even though we’ll post some accounts look for more in-depth coverage in a future edition of IronWorks magazine. Until then, check out the Flickr Gallery and the YouTube Clip.

Since the first and tenth Ridge Runs were in North Carolina and the second one was in Pennsylvania, maybe the eleventh in 2009 should be up there. We’ll work on it.

  1. It’s was one of the best rides all year!!!!!

  2. Looks like everyone enjoyed the ride, hate that I couldn’t be there.

  3. Looks to me as if maybe Paul was poisoned by the Busch…….. is that Dazed or Confused ?

  4. Who needs Myrtle Beach when you can have a ride like this — and enjoy wonderful backroads and the fall colors???

Maybe next year you can have it out here on the west coast???

  5. That’s mike kind of riding. I’m sorry I missed it.

  6. I agree MCBill, with things becoming what they are in rally town with law after law restricting bikers, we need to go back to our roots and do more riding like Ridge Run. Too many bikers these days move their bike from one rally to the next pulled behind a trailer. I say lose the trailer and ride.

  7. thanks to all of you who attended and participated.
will be glad to sponcer another run next year and make this an annual event
no trailers allowed-unless your bike pulls the trailer
