Clifton “Click” Baldwin
On July 29th the well known owner of Carolina Harley-Davidson in Gastonia, North Carolina was killed in a car/motorcycle crash in Montana. Baldwin was riding with a group of fellow HAMSTERS Motorcycle Club to the annual Sturgis Rally in South Dakota when the accident occurred on Tuesday morning. He was life flighted to a Missoula, Montana hospital where he succumbed to his injuries that night.
Mr. Baldwin helped the charities of the Carolinas by holding numerous events. He had participated in all of the Kyle Petty Charity Rides for the Victory Junction Gang Camp for chronically ill children.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
Don Lewis
On a personal note I mourn the passing of my friend Don Lewis on July 25th. He wasn’t a biker although his sons Darrel and Tim are. He was a world renown gun and shooting expert. He also was a prolific writer and editor for hunting and sportsman publications. He wrote for The Shooter’s Bible, Varmint Hunter and Precision Shooting, The Pennsylvania Game News and The Daily Leader-Times Newspaper.
He was my inspiration. He let me know that a small town guy could write for a national magazine. Every time I saw him he commented about one of my stories. I was honored that a man of his stature would read what I had written and enjoy it. Years ago his daughter Carol taught me how to use a camera and the general principals of photography.
My sister and I give our heartfelt sympathies to his family.

It’s always hard seeing a fellow rider go down. My cousin laid down his bike a year ago. He lived, but it was touch and go for a while. He ended up looking more like two-face than his prior self. The helmet and jacket saved his life, although you better believe he wears more than a skull cap these days.

A man that lived to ride. He will be missed.
