David Coker of Newstalgia Wheels

David Coker is an interesting personality. His father started the successful Coker Tire Company that bears his name. David could have had a cushy job there but struck out on his own by starting his own company Newstalgia Wheels. Newstalgia is one of the largest distributors of custom wheels for hot rods and motorcycles in the country. He describes himself as “a hot rodder with a passion for blending the old with the new”.

You can see that on his radical 1964 Panhead custom featured in the December issue of IronWorks magazine. The old motor is surrounded with brand new innovative parts and adaptations of old parts. He says the bike gets lots of looks when he rides it at shows and other events. Just as unique is his matching “Rat Rod”, also pictured in IronWorks. ( Coker Image Gallery ) The rat rods have become a popular segment of the rodding community.

David started out reworking old machinery at the age of 16 when he restored a ’55 Chevy ragtop. One of his creations is a ’94 GMC pickup with a ’52 Chevy nose conversion attached to it. He sells a kit similar to it from his company. He uses the truck to pull a custom built air ride trailer to haul his bike to shows. Just let the air out and the trailer drags the ground just like the bike and car.

David likes to blend the old with the new so if you’re looking for some modern retro looking wheels for your bike or street rod give him a look at www.NewstalgiaWheels.com and be sure to check out the Coker Image Gallery

Blending the old with the new, hey Roadrat, you sound a bit like me.
I usually scrounge around old junk yards to see what I can adapt to one of my scoots.

  5. Cute gal and rat rod, love the bike as well. Imagine being able to have the cashflow for any project you wanted to do. Coker has a wonderful life indeed.
