Big Bucks! No Whammy!
Creme de le Creme
Unless you are a discriminating motorcycle collector, you just missed a record breaking auction of antique motorcycles. New records were set at Bonhams Auction in England on September 1st. Twenty-six motorcycles sold for around 2.3 million American dollars when the Brian R. Verrall collection was sold. Mr. Verrall started his collection of rare and historic bikes in the post WW II 1940s.
Some of the bikes sold were a 1939 Vincent Rapide for about $379,000. A 1938 Brough Superior for $150,000. A 1952 Vincent Black Shadow went for $85,000 and a 1923 Henderson Four De Luxe (with sidecar) $57,000. There isn’t one bike on this list that I wouldn’t mind having but they are way out of my league, unless, come on Powerball or Mega Millions! Ah heck these are museum pieces anyway, not riders.
