2009 Harleys

The New Harleys Are Here, The New Harleys Are Here!

Tri Glide Ultra ClassicYes sir the 2009 models have been introduced and they are already on the floor in some shops. Just like the automobile companies the new Harleys seem to arrive earlier and earlier every year. It used to be that the company waited until September to introduce the new models, now it’s July. You can see some of the models in this months issue of IronWorks magazine.

Of course there are new variations of certain models and new colors and combinations in each family of bike. The touring bikes get a new frame. The frame is more like the frames of years ago, using castings and forgings, only more comfortable. It also is able to carry a bigger payload (they must have heard about me).

The biggest news from Harley-Davidson is the introduction of the Tri Glide Ultra Classic. It’s a three wheeler but it’s not a venerable meter maid Servi-Car. All the amenities of an Ultra with an extra wheel for around 30 grand. Throw in the optional electric reverse for another couple grand and you can amaze your friends by backing into a parking space without putting your feet on the ground.

I like the looks of the new V-Rod Muscle with it’s 120 hp motor, although not as much as the Night Rod. The Cross Bones, Street Bob and Street Glide are still my personal favorites. To view larger previews of the images below, just click on them.

  1. The Night Rod is really cool. I love the black color scheme and fat pipes.

  2. You know your customer demographics are aging when a trike makes the line-up. I definitely need to read the spec sheet in this.

  3. Wouldnt it have been neat to be able to sit at the table when the decisions on this trike were going down? A 6speed trans, but no auto option? And no mention on electrical capacity. I hope there is enough to power clothing and a bunch of lights?

  4. I’ve know a guy that trike’d his wife’s bike so she could handle it better. :)
