Biker, Bullet Create ‘Accidental’ Encounter

State Police in Pennsylvania have announced  they have identified a suspect in the shooting of a passenger on a motorcycle in early August. The victim, who is pregnant, felt a sharp pain in the lower side of her abdomen as the bike she was riding on was exiting Interstate 79 near Pittsburgh. At the time she thought that she had been struck by a flying stone. Upon examination at a local hospital it was discovered the woman had a bullet wound.

Aftermath

Insurance

I spent most of yesterday dealing with R.W. and Jodi’s insurance company, Progressive.  The adjuster had come to look at the bike. BJ was just as nice young man in person as he has been on the phone. After he got out of his car and introduced himself he went right to work. I new instantly that this guy knew his stuff, unlike some insurance people that I’ve dealt with in the past who wouldn’t know the difference between a V-Rod and an Ultra or a fairing from a tour pack.

News Tidbits (August 25th, 2008)

Lehman Trikes the foremost builder of three wheeler kits has announced that it will be closing it’s Westlock, Alberta, Canada fiberglass facility. Lehman cited increasing fuel and transportation costs as the main factor for the closing. Even though revenues increased, profitability declined causing the decision to cease production there. Company shareholders will still get their dividends while the workers will get severance packages. No word of where Lehman will produce fiberglass parts was given.

Charity Cowboy Chopper

Bikers are known throughout the the world for their big hearts when it comes to helping out charities, especially childrens’ charities. Rick Fairless of Strokers Dallas in Dallas, Texas is no exception. So Miller Lite bought a 2007 Harley Softail and asked Rick to customize it in Dallas Cowboy colors for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The beautiful bike in the picture is the end result.

It’s only co-incidental that a few days after my latest Evel Knieval imitation that French designer Christian Audigier will unveil his newest line of clothes. On August 25, 2008 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas the Evel Knieval line of T-shirts and hoodies will be introduced. Caesars Palace is a fitting forum for the unveiling because the fountains there was the site of one of Evel’s most famous motorcycle jump attempts.
